I wouldn't even mind if the drawing of the bow string stopped forward progression of a jump, but not being able to do it at all just seems silly.

Jumping while shooting should make the arrow go wild.

I dunno, a point-blank immediate double-shot seems pretty effective in most cases. Point blank w/ the scattergun is good too of course, but it's easier to get the drop on someone with the higher rate of fire.

and firing a ROCKET LAUNCHER in the air makes more sense.

right except that only in some cases will two shots kill what you're trying to, in which case you scramble around avoiding fire to reload and get the last hit in. This actually takes longer than just shooting three times with the scatter gun (which can also 2 shot with meatshots btw).

Seriously though we all know TF2 isn't based in realism but that doesn't stop them from doing stuff like the tired arm making arrow go wild thing on the huntsman.

which is fine, they can add realism at their discretion in their game of wackiness. That doesn't mean they're bound to it.

My gripe about it is that it's supposed to be more mobile than the sniper rifle, but you can snipe while jumping, and you can't shoot an arrow while jumping. That's a direct counter to being mobile.

the idea of a sniper being 'mobile' and 'in the fray' is flawed anyway as he has no defenses that a 125hp class needs to survive. The scout has speed, medic has regen and bodyguard, even engy (who has 150) can hold his own with a shotgun and forward dispenser.
Sniper? I got a jar of piss.

Know what's not more lethal than the flare gun?
You.

Here's a thought on the flare gun- as if Valve cares.
1) Once ignited by a flare, you are now capable of setting your own teammates on fire if they get within proximity of you. You would also do damage to turrets and dispensers while on fire from a flare OR 2) The pyro gets a hatchet that he can chuk at someone that's on fire (or even if they're not). It would have the same aim mechanics and recharge time as the Lil Slugger. A successful hit of the hatchet (let's call it Lil Choppy for arguments sake) would constitute an immediate crit. just some thoughts that the voices in my head told me to share. |

I hope that some of you are online around 5:15pm EST. I'll have an hour or so to play if I still have a softball game. If no softball game because of rain, I'll be on all night long.
Flare gun rules. I've got 50 kills with it so far. |
