That video was... weird. Like he kept bouncing between taking responsibility and dissociating.

"Negligent Discharges happen and I don't want them to happen to anyone else, but sometimes they happen."

Like he'd been trained to always take responsibility for firearm accidents, but really didn't want to.

I wouldn't say that.

It basically sounds like:

"The equipment didn't function the way I expected it to, so I had an accidental discharge."

Which, if I might editorialize:

"I was screwing around with something dangerous and fucked up, because I wasn't familiar enough with my equipment."

Plenty of gun owners DON'T shoot themselves because they treat their weapons with respect.

(I don't own guns, and I don't particularly like how easy it is to get them in America, but I'm not going to pretend that I don't have stuff in my house that could maim me or kill me if I was screwing around.)
