Yeah, even if he knows exactly why the fans are complaining, and even if he knew the complaints were perfectly valid, he's not going to publicly admit that they fucked up, especially this soon after the game's release while the initial rush of sales is still going on. EA would rake him over the coals if he did.

Official Statement from Casey Hudson.

That guy probably had that statement written for him and had 0 say in it's content. But I agree, it seems to miss the point, and doesn't promise anything other than DLC they've already mentioned before, it doesn't even mention if the DLC will address the ending at all.....

I mean, he's a project lead. Like other's have said, he can't just come out and say "yeah we totally fucked up, lol our bad!"

The fact that major figures are coming out of the wood work, even to post long winded platitudes, is a clear indication that people are getting through to them.

Yeah, at first I was annoyed, then read over that statement again and now I feel a bit better.

He acknowledges that our complaints are "equally valid" and goes on to talk about how player feedback has shaped the series in very direct ways, and then says they will be taking our input into account when creating DLC. That's more or less what we've been asking for.

He basically said a bunch of good things, just with the PR spin of not outright admitting they messed up. Which obviously he can't, not this soon.

It is more than a little condescending, though.

All right, it likely isn't all him, but yes, it's still condescending, it still skirts the major complaints, it still makes no attempt to address outright falsehoods stated before, and it still comes off as a PR thing.

"Well the NYT and PA said it was great." Fuck you.

Well, of course it comes off as a PR thing. It IS a PR thing.

And I really do honestly think that a lot of positive reviews were from people who hadn't actually beat the game yet, or who did but assumed they got a "bad" ending because they rushed through it to finish their reviews, and that a "better" ending would be available if they took their time and played more slowly.

Or people being honest and saying that the game really is great, except for the last 30 minutes.

I mean a blatant "No, our game is great see, the NYT says so." A bunch of angry fans who are pissed at your game do not need/want to be told how much other, more important sources love the same game. It's like waving a cape in front of a bull.

Yunara, you have a point. And Justin, I definitely agree with that. But... if I was writing a review for the NYT, there is a chance I would say really great things about the game too. Because I would want people to play it, and I wouldn't want to ruin it for them. It's the same reason I haven't said anything about the ending to my friends who haven't beat it yet, or posted anything negative on Facebook. I want them to enjoy the game, because it's a fantastic game.

That's the thing... I want Bioware to be successful. I want this game to be well-regarded and well-remembered. I want it to become a classic. Which is why I want them to fix the ending.

The promise of more DLC also has me suspicious that it'll just be the much suspected Aria/Omega DLC. I mean, in game I was hoping that would be a mission cause Aria's a babe and a cool character, but seriously, priorities. Ending stuff first, and hopefully not priced to gouge the fans.

Stargazer: Hey there kiddo, you wanna hear about more adventures of the Sehpard?

Kid: Does it change the ending?

Stargazer: Well, no...

Kid: Eat shit gramps.

Guys..

Skip ahead to around :55 and watch the intro to this mission.

Are you seeing what I'm seeing? Note: The planet description describes this place as an "undiscovered garden world".

I want to see if I'm just seeing things but I think you'll get where I'm going with this immediately..

Not enough food to keep him sane. It would be EDI who does it. For some reason I imagine her wearing leather while commanding her sex slaves.

EDI is dead in my playthrough. And I think they probably wound up on Eden Prime, because IIRC that planet Jacob's dad was on was literally on the other end of the Milky Way.

Actually wait, who cares where they wound up, it still doesn't make any sense.

That would also mean that Joker almost went clear across the galaxy. I think it's just an unfortunate coincidence. Otherwise the ending is even more dumb because not only are our crew stranded they are also doomed to neural degeneration.

I'm not a fan of the press release, mostly because I get a feeling that what he means by "seeing more Command Shepard" is in pre-ending DLC. We'll see what the coming days and weeks bring, but I'm not impressed.

I was unaware that EDI could die! How does that happen?

Yeah. I mean, when you beat the game and sit through the bullshit, it takes you back to right before you assault the Cerberus base and get locked into the end.

If you pick the Destroy ending, the Geth and EDI are both supposedly destroyed. At least that's what the dumb glowing kid tells you.

Destruction ending. EDI, Reapers and Geth all die. Well, presumably.

EDIT: Beaten!

EDIT again!: I also love how when he says "PA loved it!" he links to the PA Report, not anything actually written by Jerry or Gabe. I mean Jerry's comments about the ME3 dilemma today are fairly provocative. Not to mention the author of that PA Report article proceeded to kind of shit on nay-sayers who didn't like the article on twitter after it was posted.

I mean, I don't want to sound like an indoctrinated bioware stooge - but it really sounds like they are deeply aware of how negative the reception is.

I mean what do you want the PR statement to say - "Wow we colossally fucked up to a ridiculous degree, the ending makes no sense, we really screwed the pooch." They're absolutely not going to say that.

That they're saying ANYTHING at all is pretty indicative that they're paying attention and know that the fanbase is unhappy.

Obviously the first DLC is going to be that Aria/Omega and not some magical ending DLC because well - I don't think they had that planned. Will we see some sort of epilogue DLC? Who knows, but I think it's more likely now than it was before the PR statement.

I still hate how the "best ending" is the one where you murder Edi, the Geth, People with Cybernetic implants and probably the Quarians. And that's before everyone starves to death, assuming the destruction of the mass relays doesn't wipe all life from the galaxy first
