Zippo, I've found a few of the New 52 story lines are actually really well done. I've been following "Batman" and "Swamp Thing" and they both kick ass.

See, I love Superman, but I am not a fan of All-Star Superman.

My favorite Silver-Age interpretation Superman is from New Frontier.

It's just you. Mostly because Shazam is nowhere to be seen in the picture.

Well, yes. But not so dumb when it comes to trademarks and marketing said trademark. Or at least that's DC's current justification for dropping the 'Captain Marvel' part of the character in the New 52 U.

DC can't legally put "Captain Marvel" on a cover. Re-branding him is probably good business in the long run.

Haven't read the newest JL yet, but last I'd seen we were still just getting introduced to Billy and Sivana - he hadn't met the wizard yet, so that hadn't come up so far.

Its perfectly okay for DC to call their character inside their comics 'Captain Marvel' (and have done so for years) they can't MARKET the name Captain Marvel for their comics though. They can't call the comic Captain Marvel, or us the name on a cover, or advertisement (because Marvel owns those rights). So for years DC has titled their Captain Marvel books 'SHAZAM' (cause they own that trademark). But it causes confusion for laymen and new readers. Most non-regular comic readers think Captain Marvel is called Shazam already. So DC is using the relaunch to excise the Captain Marvel name entirely.

Expect a film franchise in the near future.

I'm not reading the relaunched Shazam back-up in Justice League, so I don't know the details. But I'm pretty sure Captain Marvel Jr (and Mary Marvel) haven't been introduced yet.

If they're smart they'll just not over think it. When he says SHAZAM when he wants to transform, he'll transform. If he says it when he doesn't want to transform, he won't.

Frankly I thought the CM2 thing was a little... stupid.

They changed it after Infinite Crisis so that he has to say it with intent. It was the first thing Billy did when he took over from the wizard so that Freddy wouldn't be screwed anymore.

Oh, Captain Marvel is so convoluted I don't even know WTF is up with him anymore. I don't think DC did either, prior to Flashpoint. I can only assume they started more or less fresh.
