Starship Troopers has some smart points, but it isn't exactly stubtle with them. It pretty much hits you over the head with them.

See, I can't tell if the extra layer of, "it is a dumb desensitizing action flick because it's us we're the bad guys" was done on purpose in the film or not.
Because of the book I am inclined to think it was, in some way. |

La Leche League still makes me think of luchador superheroes who teach kids the value of dairy in a balanced diet

I set my brain to idle and my popcorn-pickin' fingers to automatic. It is nowhere near as clever a movie as it thinks it is.

Starship Troopers is a movie probably made by Nazis from the dark side of the moon.

I can remember doing surgery on the "should your kids go?" section of the newspaper to try and hide the fact that there was nudity and such in this fillum so I could trick my Dad into buying me and my buddies some tickets. So then we bought him a ticket too, and he completely failed at the concept of leaving out the exit door of the theater so as to hide the fact that he left a bunch of childrens at an R rated fillum.
So I vote brain on, because only with your brain on can you sink into sweet nostalgia

So are we finally getting a Starship Troopers movie after all these decades? Color me excited.

Wait. We'll actually get to see a version true to the book, with the suits and everything? And Paul Verhoven's movie will still exist? What is that blogger's problem?

Actually, what I'd really like to see is a musical adaptation of Verhoeven's film, with NPH reprising his role as a big ol' Space Nazi. Now that would be something!
