My ten year old son loves Dr. Who and talks about it at school with his friends. One of his friends decided to watch some and started with that episode and refuses to watch any more because it is too scary.

Don't blame the lil fella. The empty child was an unnerving villain.

Prrrrrobably shouldn't see "Blink", then... My adult sister shrieked like a banshee during that one moment in the episode.
No episodes with the Silents, either. In fact, p.much all of series 6 is off limits. Moffat made it his mission to make kids dive for the sofa as often and effectively as possible. |

Blink is the only episode of Dr. Who I have ever seen. It was pretty good! I wondered if it was indicative of the rest of the show though.

If you liked Blink though, I would definitely give the two parter "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead" a go. |

Yeah, my son and I both said that he should have started with just about any other episode.

I imagine it's done like any other animation is done, you draw the same image a few times offsetting a few points in each one to create the illusion of motion.

Actually it almost seems like it's a fake-3d program/filter with a "push" map. Look at theit right hand, for example. The index finger and thumb tip aren't on the "bump" of the rest of the hand.

Yeah, they're definitely stereograms of some sort, the images aren't redrawn. I mean, look at this one:

You just have to open the GIF in an art program that uses Layers to see how its done.

Yes, I understand how a steographic gif works. It's not that I'm unaware of the concept that there are actually two images and by putting each of them on a different layer and alternating them, you create the desired effect. That doesn't at all explain what editing techniques he's using to create those two images from one single drawing.

What I find interesting is I thought you needed two eyes to see 3D imagery. But when I close one eye, it still looks '3D' to me.
